P5 Series 2
The B&W P5 Wireless headphones are based on the very successful P5 model, however, as the name suggests, they have one significant difference – they are wireless.
Outwardly, the model has remained practically unchanged. It has the same elongated cups, tightly and at the same time very comfortably covering the ears, a comfortable headband made of springy steel wire, completely covered with a shock-absorbing pad. The unusual side attachment of the ear cups to the headband is actually very convenient, significantly increasing the comfort of wearing the headphones. The use of first-class materials and very high-quality workmanship make the P5 Wireless look like a premium gadget and fully justify its value.
The headphones are equipped with custom 40mm drivers, which have been developed according to the same principles as the high-end speaker drivers. The radiators have a damped nylon diaphragm, which is very lightweight and practically free from parasitic resonances. The voice coil of the speakers is wound with copper-plated aluminum wire, due to which it was possible to further increase the sensitivity of the headphones. The P5 Wireless cups, which have been computer-modeled optimized for shape and volume to match the radiators, are filled with damping foam inside.
The headphones are equipped with a built-in Bluetooth receiver with support for the improved aptX codec, which provides sound quality close to CD-Audio. The three buttons located on the right earcup can control song playback and answer phone calls on the connected smartphone. The built-in rechargeable battery lasts for 17 hours of wireless operation, and after it is completely discharged, you can switch to a regular cable connection. In this case, the wire is connected to the headphones in the same way (into a hidden socket under the ear cushion of the left cup), and the connecting cable is supplied in the kit. Also, along with the headphones, the user receives a USB cable for charging the battery and a convenient case for storing them.
